40 Years of Excellence
Skill and experience are the cornerstone to preserving and protecting your automotive investment and Jim Goguen of Jim’s Auto Installations and Detailing Center has the credentials to prove both.
Jim is a dually certified member of the International Detailing Association and has an extended Skills Validated certification making him an expert at cleaning, correcting, restoring and preserving aged and damaged car paint, back to its “like new” shine.
For over 30 years, Jim has won multiple honors as the IDA’s Detailer of the Year; and he has been actively involved in the automotive appearance industry, testing and evaluating innovative new detailing products, technology, equipment, and detailing/paint correction techniques.

Every year for more than 25 years, he has attended the largest and most transformative automotive tradeshows and exhibitions in the world, including the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas where he is able to introduce the newest and hottest takes in the industry to his customers on a local basis. This capability has become Jim’s Auto’s ‘secret sauce’ over the years, especially in truck accessories and automotive technology.
He also attends shows like the Mobile Tech Expo and has won multiple Restyling magazine awards for restoring and accessorizing classic cars and trucks.
Jim spent many years as a member of the famous Detail Mafia, the most acclaimed and technologically advanced team of automotive detailers in the United States; and was one of the original members and later team supervisor, for the prestigious Air Force One Detailing Team at Seattle’s Museum of Flight.

History
The “Auto Installations” aspects of Jim’s were as innovative and ahead of its time as their Detailing Center is today. Compact Discs (CDs) with their new high-quality sound were released in the mid-1980s, and the first automotive CD players hit the market.
Jim’s Auto was on it! We opened our first car audio shop in a former gasoline station in Ipswich, and while that was Jim’s main business at the time, we took in detailing jobs and immediately expanded to a 1-bay carwash.
Over the years, CD players and high-quality sound systems became standard equipment in the manufacturing of automobiles, and by 2001, Jim’s Auto had diversified their offerings into the growing car accessories market including cargo securing accessories, bumpers and running boards and truck bed covers.
The detailing business, on the other hand, had become the city’s hotspot for “cleaning up your automotive image” and was doing quite well on its own.
Jim doubled their workspace and added a second wash bay, with a truck accessories catalog order counter.
It was Always About Technology
Jim knew staying on top of technology was going to be the future of the automotive industry across the board. This is what led Jim to start attending car shows like SEMA, and it was a huge part of his seeking out Detailing Success training.
After 20 years of detailing, Jim was amazed at what he still had to learn about detailing and how to maximize time and efficiency.

From detail competitions to pro bono community detailing projects, especially for military veterans, Jim has always been on the cutting edge of both the detailing and styling side of the automotive industry … and our customers know it, many of them having been customers for almost our entire 40 years in business.
With customer service at the forefront, Jim’s has also ensured that his technicians are as knowledgeable and well trained as he is.
